I highly agree with your opinions but I think there may be some repetition between user-friendly and an attractive interface.
ReplyDeleteI strongly agree with two points are interactive element and gamification element, I think it can engage the students to participate in the classroom especially for kids!
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with Danny. Your thinking is all-around but maybe it can be summarized to be briefer~
ReplyDeleteYour group list several key points and it would be better if you make your factors be more detailed.
ReplyDeleteAmong the critical factors, I agree that the assessment activity is integral to the learning process. Learners can regard learning as a creative process. In addition, communicating clearly the expected performance criteria can make students to be more clear about their learning goals.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing us your ideas about how to make an online course engaging. I quite agree with your opinion and all the factors you raise make sense. But I have a question that why your think gamification element can increase audience's intrinsic motivation? Because intrinsic motivation is from inside desire of students but not raised by outside stimulus.
ReplyDeleteYour group mentioned the point “Gamification Element” which is an effective factors for engaging learning.
ReplyDeleteYea, gamification is getting more popularly in these years, you can almost see it everywhere everyday. For example in the Starbucks app, I can now collect stars and redemn for free drinks. For learning of course it helps engaging learners to learn regularly. But we really need to be careful when we are trying to employ gamificaiton on elearning courses.
DeleteI find your point on having a gamification element to be an interesting factor. I feel that this would be more directed towards younger students or perhaps students with lower motivation. I feel that gamification does make a difference when it comes to younger students. They enjoy collecting points in order to level up and are more receptive to reading the online content and completing online tasks or quizzes. It also motivates them to continue visiting the online elearning course. However, I think that gamification does require a lot of time and effort. I feel that it has to constantly keep on changing or updating in order to keep the students’ attention.
ReplyDeleteActually your points are considerable. But I have a doubt about one point:Feedback from Instructors.
ReplyDeleteActually,I hope you can add some explanations for some point, and this would help us to grasp your essence. Thanks!!!
I agree with all the critical factors that you have mentioned. I think the last point ‘An Attractive Interface’ is very important as we need to keep the learners visit and learn regularly. Otherwise, the online course cannot be sustained when the learners feel bored and they will not login again. Therefore, the interface must be attractive and user-friendly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. But I do not think "free" is an element which make a e-learning course engaging. Actually, if people pay for one course, they may tend to spend more time on that because they have to gain benefit from the payment.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing! Your points are comprehensive and inspiring! Your answer offers in-learning, after-learning and users' feeling perspectives of view. Well done~
ReplyDeleteI think the point about gamification one is interesting as this element can increase learners motivation. One of the cons of online course is low-supervision, therefore, the formative assessment you mentioned can be a good way to assess students' learning outcomes. Besides, the instant feedback from instructors are important for students to review and upgrade.
ReplyDeletePoints listed are comprehensive and considerable! I do agree with “interactive element” and “gamification element” because they can motivate students to engage in the classroom activities effectively, especially young kids or students with less motivation. However, how to employ “gamification” on e-learning courses is an important issue which requires serious consideration in term of time and effort. Thank you for sharing! Well done~
